clacking in front end

when im driving my car in town from 10 to like 35 mph and there is a clacking noise coming from the front driver side. when i hit the breaks the noise stops so i thought it would b something to do with the caliper or pads but nothing was loose so im not sure where the noise is coming from. any advice would help thanks

Re: clacking in front end

I am experiencing the same problem on my front driver side. I have the performance 1Le brakes, the caliper is slightly loose and makes a clacking noise at low speeds untill you brake. The caliper is held in place by only 1 pin, not sure how to remove the caliper play. Would appreciate some advice .

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: clacking in front end

Sounds like the bushings the caliper rides on.

If you have the non-1LE brakes, the calipers are less than $10 apiece. When in doubt, swap em out. Your time is worth more than that. Just do it and move on.

Re: clacking in front end

No bushing that I recall for the 1LE. You might check the adapter to spindle bolts as well as the carrier to adapter bolts. Perhaps something has worked loose.
