Car pulls while braking..

I bought a used 91 Camaro RS 305 tbi, and when i brake the car pulls hard to the left side. what I do is countersteer, and its not an issue unless im going 50+ and trying to stop quick. It most likely isnt a big enough deal to cause an accident. but what should I look at? Tierods? steering column?

Im also on a small budget. please help, thanks.

EDIT: the car drives straight when you let go of the wheel but sometimes pulls to the right

Alignment is probably o.k. Some roads pull depending on the slope of the crown.

Your problem is in the brakes. Most likely a seized piston or slider bushings on the right side that's preventing the caliper from grabbing the pads properly.

An issue common to your description is a failing brake line.

I agree. I had same issue on mine. It would literally try to pull me out of my lane when I hit the brakes hard. Few months went by and the hose collapsed to the driver front caliper locking it up (tire squealing while I was driving in town).

Replaced with some nice Earl's SS Braided Lines and never looked back.

Re: Car pulls while braking..

how much did replacing lines cost you?

also, if the issue is within the brake caliper or rotors i will be doing a full brake rebuild after a few paychecks so we should be good

Brake hose not the solid lines is what they mean, stock replacement brakes hose runs about $18-$20 for 1 side. The stainless steal hoses will run a bit more. I say replace both hoses & you will be good to go, youll prolly spend $50 thats including a bottle of brake fluid.

SS hose kits depends on your brake configuration. I had front NON-1LE and rear disc so it was a 5 piece kit (2 front, 1 rear to distribution block on the rear, and 2 rears). You can find prices from Summit. I think mine was around $80 when I purchased it ~8-9 years back.
