I just purchased an 88 Iroc. The front suspension has zero movement. If you jack up the front it slowly drops (sticking sometimes) making scraping noises. I can't see anything rubbing. Once the front has dropped all the way and you put it back on the ground it has a lot of movement (very bouncey). Drive the car just a few feet its zero movement again. It's not resting on the bump stops. I have at least 2" of space between the bump stops and frame. Front struts bad? I was thinking maybe springs cut but I can't see the ends with out removing them.

 

The struts are shot.
