steering issue

lately i have been noticing that my steering wheel moves back and forth a little bit when driving and is pulling to the right alot.

i talked to one mechanic and he said that i probably needed my whole suspension overhauled.

for parts and labor he said i would be charged a little less than $1000.

what do u guys think? should i go with this or look for another mechanic.

btw i would do the repairs myself but i dont have the time to do it.

Re: steering issue

23 year old car and my guess is the front steering parts are shot and need replacement & alightment. Parts are about $300 +labor so shop around.

You might reconsider as the work isn't very labor intensive. There are some stickies at the top of the page that will provide some ideas.

Re: steering issue

well i think i may have solved the tire, came acrossed an article on the web about tire belts breaking and causing the symptoms. so i go out and look at my tires and sure enough my tire looks to have a broken belt in it

Re: steering issue

I have this same problem except to the left, but also with some added tire wear to the passenger front tire. I've been contemplating if it isnt the inner and outer tie rods being worn out. Any idea? It also is a bit looser stearing to the right and a bit more stiff turning left.
