Strut shields

Hi,

I am replacing my struts and strut mounts. The old struts are seized to the strut mounts, so I cant get the strut shields off. So my question is, how necessary are the shields and does anyone know where to get others besides a junkyard?

thanks.

Re: Strut shields

Some people go without them. Personally, I'd like to keep dust and dirt off the shaft. I used the rubber shock boots like you would see on 4x4's. I zip tied them at the bottom where it slides over the top of the strut.

I've seen that done before too... seems like it would be quite a bit more effective... I think you can get those by themselves from Rancho and such.

There's nothing to zip-tie it to up top. It kind of snakes up into to the strut mount. I believe I got these ones. I'll try to find my receipt.

Re: Strut shields

Yeah just throw some rubber shock boots at it, autozone or advanceauto should even sell them. They're cheap too, when I get shocks worth protecting I will probably get some, lol. cheapo monroes ftl
