How do I get these apart???
Sorry to ask probably such a dumb question, I searched but couldnt find it nor did it say in my chilton manual.
Anyways, how do I disconnect the steering knuckle from that steering shaft? The pic shows where I need to get them apart. It is right on a fitting.
I took off the nut but the bolt just turns freely, the knuckle doesnt lift off?!?!? What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Put the nut back on, just a few turns, then beat the crap out of it with a hammer to force it out of the hole.

If you're not trying to save the tie rod ends then just hitting the stud is fine. If you plan on reusing the ends then hitting the side of the knuckle works fine. Get a big hammer and don't be afraid to hit it.

air hammer + ball joint fork attachment =
But like alky said:
Not gonna reuse it? Beat the crap out of it.
Gonna reuse it? Pickle fork or puller tool like pictured.

Wow! I never expected "Beat the poop out of it" to be the proper answer! But hey, it worked! Thanks guys. Im redoing my front end, new k-member, control arms, brakes and coil over conversion, but keeping the stock steering components. This was boggling my mind! Thanks again for the tip!

Fancy tools are not required when a big hammer gets the job done just as easily.
