Suspension Questions
Anyone Who Dropped a 454 in a third gen have a problem with the stock suspension or did you have to get better springs?

Re: Suspension Questions
the added weight would require a heavier spring and good shocks to prevent the car from bottoming out. that said, im sure you can drop a 454 into a stock v8 3rd gen and drive it, and im sure its been done.

Re: Suspension Questions
I would also consider SFCs a must for an engine that large...unless you want a 3000 lb coil spring.

Re: Suspension Questions
Depends on a lot of things. A BBC with aluminum heads and intake is about the same weight as a factory iron head SBC. Iron heads compared to aluminum add about 70 pounds to the engine. Cast factory intake about another 30 pounds. On average, a BBC is only 100-150 pounds heavier than a SBC. Ditch the heavy cast iron manifolds which you won't be able to use anyway for some headers for less weight.
For street use, I wouldn't recommend using V6 springs. Some heavy spring rate IROC or WS6 springs will do fine or any aftermarket factory replacement spring.
Have someone sit on the hood of your car. How far lower does it sit? That's what a BBC would normally do.
