Gabriel is the worst of the worst. Run away.
The better Monroes, not the super cheeeeeep ones, aren't too bad... nothing "performance" by any means, but at least they'll actually DO something and last longer than one backing down the driveway.

I have had no luck with either of those brands.
I like the KYB's as a cheap entry-level unit.
Summit should have them in stock for a thirdgen, I actually just ordered some from them not long ago.

Amazon has KYB GR-2's for $56.41 With free shipping. Since your M&G shocks should be 43-45 dollars, I would wait for the KYB's.

I picked up a set of the Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks for multiple reasone (read: I'm cheap, and that's all they had), and I don't like them. The factory shocks with 150k+ miles handled better.

Jesus man, 300K? Mine were shot at 70K.
Like what was said before, Gabriel's are junk. Monroe's are ok. My suggestion: get the best struts you can afford, because replacing them is not a job you're going to want to repeat.

Re: monroe or gabrial shocks?
Monroe used to have formula gp's that were decent shocks, but I haven't seen them for years.
honestly, if you want it to handle well I would say just suck it up and buy koni's. If you don't care, just want something safe then buy whatever you can get the best price on. I really don't see the point in spending more than what your best deal is on mediocre shocks/struts

they were shot when i got the car and it was just a tad over 300K i think it was like 301,596K when i got her but she also sat for a good 2 to 3 years so i was hoping they would come back, well now my driver side is starting to scrap on everything when i hit a bump i think its time i replace them

Re: monroe or gabrial shocks?
gr2's can be had in a couple days from most advance auto part stores and beat both current options (gabriel or monroe). that said, if you absolutely cannot wait and have to have it now, the monroes would be the best of the two.

Re: monroe or gabrial shocks?
I had Monroes on my car for 6 months in that time span doing my rear end swap in may my Monroes was shot. I had wheel hop issues the whole time. I pulled the rear put a possi in and noticed how soft and leaky the skocks was, i could push them in with my finger and they would not come back out..Complete junk! I don't know about Gabriel but if there anything like Monroe Stay away.
Re: monroe or gabrial shocks?
I put about 60k on my monroes before they kicked the bucket. Definitely worth the money for a V6 knock around car, but far from performance oriented. Giving the KYB's a shot this go-round
I really dont see the benefit of dropping alot of money on top of the line shocks/struts on a DD or general street car. Not like you constantly use them to the fullest
89rs454, take them back if they're leaking that soon. They have a lifetime warranty. Look to your suspension before blaming the shocks for wheelhop

Re: monroe or gabrial shocks?
Happy Halloween!
A bunch of years ago I lowered my Camaro about an inch using a Rancho suspension kit. The fronts struts are Rancho but for some reason I put Gabriels on the rear. Probably because I didn't know better back then. Today I ordered a set of Bilsteins for the rear --part number F4-B46-1021-HO-- I'll let you know how they ride when I'm done with my to-do list.
