Check out KYB's struts and shocks, I would stay away from the Monroe junk.

You asked for a opinion and I gave mine. You will find not to many 3rd gen owners that care about their cars use Monroe products. Enough said.

Fair enough, i just think if your going to talk bad about a brand then give some real life feedback about it, other then saying it's "junk". Cheers

Re: MONROE MATIC STRUTS SHOCKS

the monroe stuff is an inexpensive, stock type replacement. they are good for an every day car, but for the same (or similar) money, the KYB GR2's are very hard to beat if you're looking to do more than get just groceries. If you're looking to go with something more budget oriented (vs the higher end koni/bilstein), go GR2, you won't be disappointed

Re: MONROE MATIC STRUTS SHOCKS

The KYB Outlet has a full set, front struts and rear shocks for $139 using the coupon code GOOG5. My son's car needs shocks/struts bad. I know what he is getting for Christmas.

Re: MONROE MATIC STRUTS SHOCKS

Nothing wrong with Monroe Matic shocks in terms of quality. They just aren't valved for performance. They will be way better than your worn out shocks for a reasonable price.

Re: MONROE MATIC STRUTS SHOCKS

KYB-GR2's helped a little in my 91'bird that I installed... But for the time and money I spent replacing them wish I would have stepped it up a notch! Can't speak on behalf of the Monroe's.

Re: MONROE MATIC STRUTS SHOCKS

A guy at work has an 05 Z06 and it rides pretty stiff all around, but the ride quality is Grade A cushion soft. Unlike our feel every bump in the road Third gens. And yes, to answer your question my car rides pretty harsh now with the new Monroe shocks. When i buy new springs next week it will probably ride like a ******* tank.

Re: MONROE MATIC STRUTS SHOCKS

Also, i have heavy *** CragerSS wheels with little tire wall, that could also be a factor in the harshness. Happy new year guys and be safe.

Re: MONROE MATIC STRUTS SHOCKS

I've used the Monroe Sensatrac for tens of thousands of miles and have experienced zero trouble from a failure of any kind. Reasonable ride and above average handling I would say.
Plenty of trips to the dragstrip although a mid 12 sec car hardly stretches the needs of the suspension. Zero time on autocross or a road course so I can't comment of their qualities in that regard.
I will try the suggested KYBs on the next replacement though. Just to experiment.
