wider front suspension?

I wanna put z06 wheels on my iroc. Is there a arms that will be wider than stock so I don't have to use adapters? I'm puttin in a k member anyways and 4th gen axle in the rear. Any input would be helpful thanks.

Re: wider front suspension?

I would be interested in a way to widen front track as well. I would imagine it would come via custom a arms, but the challenge would be keeping the suspension geometry right.

Re: wider front suspension?

The a-arms aren't what the wheels hit. It is the strut that they hit.

So unless you design a way to bypass the strut of the suspension, you gotta use adapters/spacers to run wheels that don't really fit.

Re: wider front suspension?

Yeah, but in order to increase the track, the wheel mounting surface has to be moved outward. And in order to increase track width without increasing scrub radius, the ball joint also has to be moved outward, which requires a custom a-arm. I don't know if the angle of the strut can change that much though..... Maybe our front suspension type just can't be modified to work correctly with those deep offset wheels.

On a side note, using adapters to CORRECT the offset to match your old wheels is fine (the only concern is the extra set of lug nuts). However using spacers to INCREASE track width will put more stress on your bearings, spindles, and wheels.
