Blank Spot in Steering

So my IROC's always had a little play in the steering, but nothing really bad. A couple days ago, it developed a huge "blank spot". It feels like the steering just disengages, or releases, for almost a half rotation of the steering wheel before catching, or engaging, again. It feels like it's in the same spot every time. I'm not sure what to do. Is it a bad box?

Re: Blank Spot in Steering

Feel free to delete this.. the steering wheel had physically unbolted from the column.. There was actually only one of the three phillips head screws holding the wheel to the column left and it backed out, it's a miracle there was any steering at all when I drove it..

Re: Blank Spot in Steering

My Grant has three bolts, the large nut and a safety clip (the latter two OE). The three bolts attach the wheel to the hub. The large nut secures the whole business to the steering column. The safety clip keeps the nut in place.
