Sphon swap mounts on racecraft K member?
Sphon swap mounts on racecraft K member?
I already have the spohn swap mounts, I want a racecraft k member.
The LS1 version of the K member offered comes with another kind of swap mount (looks funny 2 me). Just wanted to know if I could save myself a bit of money and reuse the swap mounts I have (not to mention it was a PITA to get the poly mounts in the LS1 clam shells, then I had them powder coated).
No, I don't want the spohn K member. I already ordered racecraft everything else and would like to follow suit.
Here is the SBC version (will spohn mounts fit on this)

Re: Sphon swap mounts on racecraft K member?
if the mounting pads on the racecraft k member are the stock configuration for the factory sbc mounts, the spohn ones may fit. But afaik, the spohn mounts use 4 odd holes that may or may not all be the stock sbc mounts, and i dont know if they are all on the racecraft piece.
how much more is the lsx swap k from racecraft? im sure you can sell the spohn mounts on here without much difficulty if the price is reasonable. I kinda like racecrafts mount setup, but they are solid mounts, so you will have some added harshness. Spohns use the factory engine side rubber mount.

i believe the spohn mounts use the v6 mount locations on the stock crossmember, so chance are you're going to run into an issue. the plate style swap pieces use the factory v8 spots, but then you run into issues if you're planning on using a/c

Re: Sphon swap mounts on racecraft K member?
any reason why you're set on using the spohns? you could probably sell them to recoup most of your money and grab the plates to use the sbc mounts. plenty of other things to fight with on the lsx swaps, why make this part more difficult than necessary?
if you look at post #10 here, you'll see how they mount. the spohn mounts use the v6 setup (rear bolt holes from the v8 position and 2 more further behind), i dont think there's enough to the tubular mount to make them work.

racecraft mounts are fine, no reason not to run them on your ls1. They don't look "goofy" they fit fine
