Overall suspension recomendations

Okay so I just wanted your guys input on what suspension packages, websites, or set ups you guys would suggest.

A little more information: I just bought a 91 Camaro rs. She needs work but runs and drives. Anyway, I want to start on suspension when the weather warms up and I was wondering what set ups have worked best for you guys. I want it to be an every day car I can drive but still be able to take it autocrossing and possibly eventually to a road course.

Also if there is already a thread on this if you could point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

You can start by reading the Sticky threads https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/suspension-chassis/ or if they don't have what your looking for you can try the Search feature at the top of any screen.

Re: Overall suspension recomendations

Do you want to lower it?

What are the current problems with it?

Springs sagging?

Bouncing around excessively after hitting bumps?

Bottoming out?

Any steering symptoms?

There are 1,000,000 ways to go about this, and it would be different for every car.

Edit - Unless you just mean general suggestions as to what these cars have done to them normally. These cars are pretty easy to build up as far as suspension upgrades. Just reading around will give you all the information you need on this stuff

Solid Tie-Rod Adjuster Sleeves
Lowering Springs + Adjustable Panhard Bar
Aftermarket Shocks & Struts
Polyurethane or Polygraphite Bushings
Wonderbar (ties the front sub frame together)
Strut Tower Brace
Subframe Connectors
Swaybars
Caster/Camber Plates

Tubular Chromoly Stuff like: K-member, front a-arms, rear lower control arms, torque arm, transmission crossmember + half of the parts already listed above can come in chromoly versions.

All of this is pretty much "bolt-on" too. The only problem is figuring out what you really want to do from the beginning, so you're not doing things twice. I'm sure I missed a couple things too.

Welcome to the board. We have a lot of fun here.

Might I suggest http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...=index&cPath=6

UMI does a lot of cool stuff for 3rd Gens and make everything right here in Philipsburg, PA. I see you're from Pittsburgh. We can fix you up and also introduce you to some of our autocross friends.

Re: Overall suspension recomendations

I can vouch for UMI parts. My IROC handles better than any other car I've ever driven with their suspension parts installed. Currently I have Koni yellows, Eibach Sportlines, UMI Adjustable panhard bar, UMI LCA's, UMI caster/camber plates, UMI Subframe connectors, UMI strut tower brace, all MOOG front suspension parts, poly bushings on the stock IROC sway bars and a UMI torque arm. It's amazing! The car is rock solid, no body flex and cuts corners like a corvette.. maybe even better.

I'd definitely check them out

Thanks for all the input. I'll definitely have to check UMI out. Yep I live in the city of pot holes and random weather ^.^ They apparently hold an autocross at a place close to us called north park. I'm gonna go check it out a few times when the weather gets nice.

Re: Overall suspension recomendations

@Utfan, how do you like the camber plates. I've seen a few sets for $200 or so, and sound like a good deal along with my new shocks.
