Hello all, I have finally just come back into th FBODY world after an 8 year or so absence. I just bought a 91 formula, 305 5 speed w/110k. Going to pick it up next weekend and I cant wait, missed these cars. My question, I have a friend with the ws6 suspension parts (just springs and sway bars, correct?) for sale, really cheap, and I was wondering if you guys thought they would be a better choice then picking up aftermarket stuff. I will not be lowering the car either. Thank you all in advance for the opinions/suggestions! Great to be back

Re: WS-6 Question
if they're indeed ws6 parts then they should be MUCH cheaper than aftermarket parts, not sure about comparison between them but my bet would be that there is not much difference at all. go for the parts, save yourself a couple hundred.

Re: WS-6 Question
And, the springs are already just as wore out as yours. (most likely) 50% chance they're even worse.

Pass.

Re: WS-6 Question
ALL FORMULAs came standard with WS6 stuff, from 87-92 and the base motor to the 350.
look in the console or the locked part in your hatch and look at your RPO codes. it will have WS6 if its truely a formy.

Buy/replace any worn steering parts (ider arm is usually the worst), subframe connectors, Bilstein shocks n struts wonder bar, dub adjst pan hard bar and maybe box your rear lower control arms.

step 7, enjoy.

Formulas & GTAs come with the WS6 from the factory.

You cannot tell a true Formula or GTA strictly from the VIN itself. If it is in fact a Formula, then it does have the WS6.

Re: WS-6 Question
a base firebird and a formula will come up the same if you search by vin. If the car does not have ws6, its not a formy. People CONSTANTLY think base firebirds are formulas if they have the 305 tbi engine. Thats most likely what you are buying, a base firebird with the 305 tbi engine

Re: WS-6 Question
After all these years, you can't be certain that nothing has changed (like WS6 parts ending up on another car) unless it is a 1-owner car & he can verify that. Although with the # of bad sellers out there, nothing short of measuring the sway bars & reading tags on the springs? You can't be 100% certain one way or another.
