i just dropped in my 350 replacing my 305 lo3.when i pulled the motor out the front end came up very high and when i put the new motor back in the front end didnt go down very much.the car sat without an engine for 2 months.will this settle after driving or is the suspension stuck up.it seems to travel freely when i push down on the front.also the carb, air cleaner, altenator,a header, powersteering pump, accessory bracket radiator and ac condensor are not installed yet.coule this be the problem.parts dont seem that heavy though.
also tranny is about 1/4 inch from block.will this gap close when i tighten down on the bell housing bolts or is it not linged up correctly.manuel tranny.when i took jack off transmission it didnt drop any.this is my first engine install and want to make sure everything is in place before i go tightening bolts down

Try to move the car back and forth about 10 feet, the tires need to reposition themselves after the suspension has been unloaded and then reloaded. As for the gap with the trans just make sure that the dowel pins are positioned right and the input shaft on the transmission is enguaged correctly to the splines of the clutch and the pilot bearing, if all of that is good then yes tightining the bellhousing bolts will close the gap.
