questions on lowering

hello so here is my question.. i have a 1985 firebird and i have just installed the eibach pro kit 1 inch lower on all four corners, and i got this kit because i have read that if you take these cars down around two or more inchs you will have to change alot of parts(panhard bar lower control arms torque arm exc) to make everything work properly.back to what i was saying though is i got the 1 inch kit so if i wanted it lower, i will just cut i quarter coil at a time until im happy, so is what i heard true because i dont wanna get it down there and realize i have coil binding issues or worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you very much for your help

Re: questions on lowering

You may end up needing a adjustable panard bar if the axle is too far from center after lowering. When its at the height you want, check the angle of the rear control arms with the car on the ground. They should be about level. If the are not, and the body side is significantly lower than the axle side, you would be in need of some relocation brackets for the control arm, "lcarb"'s.

You will never have a coil bind issues with any over the counter spring, you simply don't have enought suspension travel to compress the spring all the way.

Re: questions on lowering

hey thank you very much i was a little worried about that whole thing.. and as for front u think stock a arms and steering components will be fine with a 2 inch or so lower?? stock honey comb wheels and breaks. ball joints and swaybar and link kit are upgraded but i dont think any of that will affect this...

Re: questions on lowering

The only thing that will be affected by lowering only one inch would probly be your shocks/struts. It will put more tension on your stock ones. anything lower than an Inch you would probly have to worry about lcarbs and panhards and such as 86TA mentioned also new shocks/struts to match your springs or adjustible ones. I also have the springs you have with kyb shocks/struts (stock replacement) and they are kinda on the rough side with the 1" drop anything lower and id have a feeling they wouldnt last very long.
