83 Firebird Powersteering pump or gearbox bad?
I have a 83 firebird, when I try turning the steering wheel it acts as if there is no powersteering or it makes a grinding noise. Increasing the RPM seems to sometimes effect if its easy or hard to turn.
I figured it was the powersteering pump but my father a mechanic said it was a steering gear. No one seems to know what this means other then the Steering Gear box yet when you drive it it turns manually fine just harder.
Anyone have any trouble shooting help or just a straight up it should be the pump, it would be greaty appreciated.

Ps fluid full belts and pulley haven't checked. There is fluid on the fluid reservoir I'll clean it and see if leaks but fluid has stayed full I believe.
