'84 5speed - Got new rotors and hawk street pads, went and bedded them, don't really know if it is coincidence or related problem. Shortly after while turning the wheel past about 1/4 turn, the steering wheel locks (not consistently, about ever one out of four times). Then if i give it some muscle it goes past and keeps turning normally. Normal driving is fine and it seems to have gotten better in past few days.

Im wondering is it a common problem as a result from a failed part with the locking mech in the column. Or could it be damage to the rack or steering column/shaft. Bedding brakes is a pretty violent process when done right... would like to get it sorted out before the next autoX on Dec 1st....
