Alignment specs; post accident repair

Alignment specs; post accident repair

Last Thursday I hit a guardrail, in addition to curbing it real good, enough to push the wheel back a half inch. At any rate, I had an alignment guy look at it and he said he could pull it, so I paid him to pull and align the vehicle to spec. Are these specs correct? This is what it's currently set at after his repair.

looks suspicious to me that the before specs were pretty much dead on, with the exception of toe. You said it pushed the wheel back a half an inch so I was expecting to see a caster setting way out in the "before" category. The toe that was out of spec previously, just looks as if the both wheels were turned in one direction the same amount. All that being said the numbers afterwards look good (toe could have been dialed in a little closer, but it's still within the specs). I'm just curious as to why the "before" wasn't way out of whack. Tire wear and how it drives down the road will tell the truth.

The think the before numbers were done after he pulled the k-member/a-arm, not before. He said it wasn't worth it to try to align it until after he pulled it.

Also it does seem to pull to the right a hair, but I'm attributing that to the brand new tire on the passenger side and a next to bald tire on the driver side.

there is slightly more positive caster on the right which could cause that but I dont think it's enough to give you a pull. You could swap the two front tires and see if it then pulls in the opposite direction.

Your caster is too close to have it be the reason for pulling. New/bald tires on each side will definitely change it though. Even more so if they're different brands. My car required about 1/4 turn on the steering wheel to keep it going straight with one Goodyear and one Michelin up front. It was straight as an arrow with both Goodyears. And it's equally straight now with both Michelins.

I have Geforce Sports on all for wheels, but they are worn, except for the passenger side one which had to be replaced because it had a missing chunk. It does drive just fine now, after the accident it it could make right turns on it's own!

Bumping for more info; is it *okay* for toe to be postitive on one side and negative on the other? That seems like a huge discrepancy.

It means your steering wheel was off center a little bit- he was lazy and did not want to turn both tierodes equal distance to center the wheel.

The new tire on the right will cause it to pull just a little. The crown on the road will also let it pull to the right just a tad also because your caster split is low (0.1-0.2 range). It should be more like 0.5 but that's ok for a flat road track car. you will have to just give the wheel a little lean to the left some times going down very crowmed roads but there will be no abnormal tire wear from it.

Rewl, More caster lead makes a car turn away from that side, not pull towards it.

If you are ever running out OC way on a weekend then try and message me and you can stop by- we'll fix it real quick- itll take about 30 mins for us to do it. I can tweak things a little more favorable for you.

So, should I just leave it be? I don't track this car; I do the occasional spirited drive in the mountains and that's it.
