Strut Tower Bar

I have a stock camaro 91 rs 3.1L and I am wondering to get a strut tower bar but i don't know which one to get.

I heard on the forum from a lot of people to either get Koni or Bilstein but for me they are a lot expensive than the KYB and also since its a stock car I think KYB should be ok for the time being.

So should I get a strut tower bar ? Would it be a good thing to add and how much would it help ?

A waste of money on a mostly stock car. Money better spent on better shocks, and or soild bearing strut mounts to isolate strut slop that is casues with old OEM strut mounts.

KYB AGX shocks are decent for the price as long as you have the aftermarket strut mounts. I recommend using Spohns units/ they are bulletproof and will last a long time plus are compatible for any future modifications.

Witout solid bearing aftermarket mounts like these- ANY stb is useless becasue you are getting strut shft slop in turning and cornering loads. No need to brace the towers if the rubber insert bushings are moving up/down/fore/aft/left/right 1/2"

I do not endorse that design. The bearings are glued in through the bottom. If the bearing comes out you will crash. One TGO member has already had a bearing failure where it came out of position. Spohns design has the clipped in through the top where it would never have an accidental critical suspension link connection failure.

My life is worth the extra $100 for the proper design- how about yours?

Re: Strut Tower Bar

My founders strute mounts are "glued" but they also havea solid ring under the bearing.

Also I am not sure what they are useing but the glue is a product made for the aplication.

With that said founders has crap customer service but I think the parts are fine

BTW the bearings had no part number on them.

Im the guy stuff breaks on. If it can happen, it has probably happened to me. I would never use that crap after finding out what I have about how they are machined and assembled. But hey, what do I know.

I will be pushing Val to take that crap off his car when he brings it out of storage- Matter of fact I will probably help him buy some Spohn replacemetns becasue he is a close friend and I do not want to see him hurt.
