power steering pump pressure, can hold back with my thumb.
I was sure my pump went bad. (I resealed it a week or 2 ago and it worked for a few test rides) I could hold my finger over the pressure line with the engine running and even revving the engine.
I went to autozone and bought a rebuilt pump and still no power steering. Again I can hold my finger over the line and block the pressure.
This cant be right. I am a big guy but I cant hold back that kind of pressure.
So before I go throw this pump through the window at autozone on my way to NAPA is this right or not?

LOL,
I will answer my own post because this is not in the forum searching... Well at least I could not find it.
No you cant hold it back with your thumb. LOL From reading around it should be between 900 and 1150 PSI. There is a way to test it but if your holding it back with your thumb that is not needed.
My first pump that I resealed had a sketchy shaft bearing and the seal kit I bought did not have one so I tried to reuse it. That was why my first one failed so fast. I cleaned all the gunk out of it and it was to loose.
After I took the autozone one off I seen the problem as soon as I removed the adapter for the pressure line. I had the o-ring in the first groove over the hole. It needs to be in the 2nd groove. It was hot and I was rushing and had just got off a 12 hour shift when I was installing it. My Bad.
