Steering Wheel put on wrong?

So A couple weeks ago I had a locksmith come and tear into my steering column (Lost my only ignition key ) after checking EVERY almost every damn VATS code it turned out I'm 11) He got my key made, put everything back together and boom started like a champ!

The problems started yesterday when I took it for the first drive. I've been having alignment problems, specificially my steering wheel was always titled left slightly.

Now it's tilted sharply to the right! Haven't hit any bumps or nothing, or messed up the steering. It's just sat there since I lost the keys.

My question is this- is it possible when he took the steering wheel off he reattached it wrong? If so, should I call the locksmith and complain- try to get them to fix it? I can't really afford extra repair bills since I'm a broke college student. The Cars my baby but I hate driving it since I've had all these alignment issues

I've got the stock steering wheel btw

Re: Steering Wheel put on wrong?

It is entirely possible he did that. I will cause no issues, whatsoever, other than being tilted a different direction. The alignment is the alignment and the steering wheel can be moved. Not sure how the '92 is setup, since it has the airbag, by on my '89 all you have to do is pop off the horn and there are some hex bolts holding it on. Undo them turn wheel to last known angle and bolt back on.

Re: Steering Wheel put on wrong?

Okay cool, thanks for the response. I talked with the locksmith and told him what happened. he said he thought he aligned it with the correct mark but said if I bring it in he'll help me get it straight. So I'll be doing that next week.

When i let go of the steering wheel and it tries to return to center, it goes to the 1* position so it just needs a lil adjustment and I'll be good to go!
