Today on this episode of: When balljoints fail
So I take my GTA to the alignment shop Saturday after having replaced the passenger upper strut mount. They tell me they can't because my balljoint is shot. I'm like WTF, it only has not even 1,000 miles on it. Sure as **** I go into the bay, grab the wheel and yup, totally blasted. The alignment shop was only 8 stop lights from my house so I leave to replace the balljoint. Soon as I leave the parking lot...BAM, CRUSH, SLAM, BAM....**** me
The balljoint just totally separated. Had to get a flatbed to bring her home. I replaced the balljoint Sunday but the fender makes me want to freaking cry
These aren't the Spohn balljoints that came with my a-arms, that one failed after only 500 miles. This was installed by the shop that did my last alignment and it looks like it was never greased. I installed the Moog T variant and hit it hard with the synthetic grease afterwards. I have Eibachs but not the Sportlines. I don't get it
Maybe I'm being too hard on the old girl road racing her haha! The drivers side original Spohn balljoint seems perfect still. Oh well. Looks like I'll be pimping a primer black fender and front gfx for awhile.

Damn Your Lucky You Weren't On The Freeway Going 60 MPH.
Re: Today on this episode of: When balljoints fail
Tell me about it lol! I was literally going 1mph pulling out of their driveway. I don't even want to imagine what would have happened had I been at speed...
I've just never seen a balljoint fail like that and totally come apart. Pretty scary. I should have taken pics of the pieces.

Lol mine came out when I turn into the parking lot right before school..embarassing I made it to school but miss classes. It pop right off when I turn, so I lost control and instinct told me to turn away from curb instead of braking as I should (didnt know what happened). Pretty nice fender bender and lost the control arm as well from the curb. Left a mark on the sidewalk lol, but nonetheless painful to watch the tow truck to pull the sob up the ramp

Soooo remind me what brand ball joints those were??? I have HOWE racing ones and I hope they are still good lol. Makes me wanna check 'em out now
Re: Today on this episode of: When balljoints fail
The first that failed was the original Spohn unit that came with the A-arm. The second was the Moog non "T" variant. Now I'm using the T.
