LS1 Brakes on 1989 T/A

Hello,

i purchased a complete front LS1 brake kit from scott degeer (bigbrakeupgrade) for my 1989 T/A 5.0 TBI. very good parts!

now my question is:

i use the 16" GTA rims. so scott told me i need to use 4mm spacers.
but i think i read somewhere that it works without spacers too.

can someone help me out where to get 2 or 4 spacers (new or used)? didn't the iroqs use such spacers?

thank you!

best regards andreas

I believe some Iroc's (possibly ones that came with aluminum drums?) used spacers in the rear. I would just pick some up off of ebay.

You're gonna love the brakes. I put some LS1 fronts on mine last year. BIG difference!

That's what my mom calls them. Pretty fitting to call them Iroqs if one's in really bad shape.

Why Does My Rear Have Spacers?
The spacer was apparently used on 16" wheels when GM switched from aluminum to iron drums, which created a .187 size difference. The spacer, however, seems to be hit or miss and essentially unnecessary. Even some disc brake cars received them.

IIRC, usually people with ls brakes conversion on the front use the rear wheels on the front with spacers, ideally with a 8.5 mm spacer. The front wheels fit and look great on the back too.
