ball joint install help.
I have been trying to install my ball joints for 3 hours. I got them out pretty easy but every time I try to install the new one it goes in crooked. I am using the ball joint press from autozone. Does anyone have any tips on how to not make it go In crooked? I am getting very frustrated. This is on a 91 rs.

Just did them in my car. You want the ring that goes around the ball joint that is holding the press against the frame, straight up and down or even a little out away from the a-arm perpendicular to the body. If the "C" part of the press is leaning towards the front of the car on the A-arm it will go in crooked. You can let the "C" part swing around and rest on the front of the A-arm but make sure it is straight up and down or off to the side just a little bit. Good luck to you sir as it is a PITA and it took me several hours to get them in.

Store the BJs in the freezer until ready to install and use a bit of oil to help it slide in.

I used a jack stand after I got them barely started with a c-clamp. Gently lower the car so the ball joint rests directly on the jack stand, then hammer on the a-arm, around the ball joint. I kept re-positioning my jack stand around to whatever side of the ball joint needed to be pressed in more.
You're basically using the weight of the car and hammering, to drive the ball joint in. Make sure to leave the jack under the car for support, just in case the jack stand wants slip.
