alignment question

i just had my 91 rs aligned the other day after replacing idler arm, inner and outer tie rods, center link, and ball joints. i wanted them to set it at...

Caster - 4 - 4.5
camber - -.5 - -.5
toe - 3/32 toe in

what they could get...

caster - 3.7 - 3.9
camber - -.3 - .0
toe they set to 3/32 toe in

when i asked about it this is what he said..

that the caster is maxed out on both sides with the 3.7 and 3.9.

and the camber on the right side is maxed also. he couldnt get any more then 0. he said he was forcing it over as much as the car would let him and couldnt go negative at all. as far as camber on the left side he said that there is still about .5 inches of adjustment left, he just didnt want too big of a split.

so my question is, what should i change to allow more adjustment? i am still on stock struts, springs, and plates.

should i even worry about it? do you think these numbers are ok? my main goal was to at least not have any positive camber numbers.

Re: alignment question

Ride height can limit the amount of adjustment. The higher the car, the less adjustment. Those specs aren't bad. The toe is right on. My car is set up for autoX/RR so of course I have more caster (5.5*)and camber (-.75*) and adjust to -2.5* camber for the track.

In you signature it appears the front is around stock height and you have skinnies on the front, am I correct? Is that what you normally run? How much street use vs track time? I would think the skinnies would be less picky about camber, but a small amount of camber will help handling on the street.

To more directly answer your question, IMHO I wouldn't worry if that is truly all they could get, those numbers are ok. MAYBE aftermarket strut mounts would help but the only other thing i can think of is lowering the front a little. Some people might consider expanding the holes in the strut towers. If I bought strut mounts today I would probably buy founders. Keep in mind they raise the top of the strut 1" to help strut travel on lowered vehicles, this will lessen the distance the a-arm can extend down by the same amount.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
