What happens if i only install the lowering springs and nothing else?

I recently changed my wheel and tire combo from the factory 16x8 to some 18x10 C6 corvette wheels with 40 series tire. The new combo is about 1/2" inch taller but the wheels give the illusion that the car is sitting way too high. I do not want it to look like a donk and I'm already getting some smirks from the old school crowd and the slammed/bagged guys...
Anyway, I went out and bought some Dropzone -1.75" springs before I did any research on the boards. I read in Lowering 101 that I need an adjustable panhard bar and torque arm and LCA relocation brackets.
My question is, what happens if I only install the springs for now? I read that my rearend and pinion angle will change a bit. I have some Lakewood LCA's already (stock mounts) and the rear end is now a ford 9" made to bolt into stock mounts. I also have drag struts/shocks. Will these spring only changes really affect my launch? Right now, the car squats and launches well with no wheel-hop. The car is mostly a town cruiser and occasional stop-light racer to 60mph. I do like to drag race occasionally. I just want to know how much launch performance I will lose. I also hate wheel hop!
Thanks!

The only reason for the adjustable panhard bar is to recenter the axle, with the new wider wheels you probably going to end up rubbing one side so your probably going to need one.

Other than that the car will run and drive just fine. You will possibly pick up some wheel hop due to the control arm angle being off, but until you actually drive it you wont know if it will be enough to persuade you to pickup some relocation brackets for the control arms.

Btw bolt on relocation brackets are only 45 bux or so from founders.

You dont need to mess with the torque arm.

Thanks 86TA. I will get the adjustable panhard bar and go from there. I am going to do some searches. If you have any suggestions on manufactures or best deals, let me know. I appreciate it!

Bolt in or weld in LCA relocation brackets? Is it just a preference or is one way better?

just personal prefrence i had bolt on no major complaints planted rear end alot better

lowering your car you will notice you spin alot more but getting lcrcb will correct that issue no need for tq arm i been running stock on all cars
adj panhard bar not needed but like stated above one side might rub if that doesnt bother you

When I installed DZ springs (a decade ago) I had some major wheel hop after. LCA brackets made a world of difference, you're going to need them!!

Sportlines and dropzone actually any 1.75" lowering spring are all same spring that's been rebranded over the years but the rear springs are crap to say the least

Re: What happens if i only install the lowering springs and nothing else?

I lowered my 89 with Sportlines springs. I had zero vibration in the car until after installing the springs. Now it vibrated due to the transmission/driveshaft angle. I was told I needed an adjustable torque arm.

Now that's the first suggestion that sounds feasible.
Thank you
