power steering return hose size?
I'm out of state at the moment and do not have access to my car. But does anyone know off hand what size the oil return line is coming off of the power steering box? I would like to install an inline filter onto the line, but don't know which size to get. They make the filters in 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8".

3/8". might as well buy a few feet of new hose while are at it if yours is still original- it's not that expensive.

Get the right kind of hose if you do... fuel line won't cut it.
Trans fluid cooler hose will also work.

just tell them you want power steering hose. it looks like someone wrapped tape around the outside of it and it's a lot stiffer than fuel hose.

I thought the return line wasn't pressurized and braided -6 AN hose worked fine.

It is 3/8". Got it all sorted out. Had to make sure that the guy from the local parts store didn't give me fuel hose - its not compatible with power steering fluid. Sure is a mess replacing a pump and everything. I put in a Magnefine filter to keep my new steering stuff nice.

Re: power steering return hose size?
yes the 6an hose will work on the low pressurized side. its set up for all oils and most fuels...(I checked with 2 diff makers of the stuff..) use the Teflon lined for the pressurized side with the fitting for it.. reg AN fittings for the low/return side..
The colors are off just a bit with the 2 dif type of hose fitting Hi vs low pressur
Compression fitting to 6AN. for the low press return hard line fitting not shown. this way no hose clamps are used.
