89 350 GTA with pro-kits has 3/8in travel :(

Hello,
Took a peak under the car and I have 3/8in travel (if that) before k member hits the bump stop.
looked on the strut shaft and there is evidence that the travel is about 1in actually...
I am a little pissed with this, that means I pretty much always involve the bump stop. (I have cracks on it evidencing this).
So what is it? these 1in drop prokits were actually more than that in the case of my fully optioned car?
Everyone else noticed this? I could snap few pictures.
Thanks for your help
PS: Used gr2's in front. I know I need more damping but what can I say money was short. did used fouders camber plates. figured I'll go later to kony yellows but this ridiculously small travel bugs me

EDIT: car was parked on an incline driveway when I measured this. in the garage is much less, more like 1/4in
The thing that I have overlooked is that Wheel moves on a circle arc, so while at the bumpstop which sits more inwards I have only that, Wheel actually moves more.
so not that worried anymore. pondering if I should spend the cash for the konis.
thanks again for any input
