Front Spring Question

Hi Guys:

I purchased these 1903 Front Springs from Hotchkis. I showed them to my mechanic and he said they're the wrong ones and that the front springs are supposed to have the same diameter at the top and at the bottom, and if they taper, they're probably the rear springs. However, after sending them back to Hotchkis, they insisted they were the front springs. Does anybody know what's going on? Are these the front and if so, why do they taper? Can I still install them?

Thanks!

Simon

Re: Front Spring Question

Weird. And I have somebody from Hotchkis telling me they checked the part number on the springs themselves to verify. Thanks for the help!

Re: Front Spring Question

Got it. I guess the Hotchkis sales guy was just clueless. Thanks for the pic, that makes it crystal clear!

Re: Front Spring Question

You really like the Hotchkis brand or something? Hotchkis are not a performance spring. IE, the front springs are only 600lbs. A stock IROC spring is over 700 and even higher if you trim it. Eibachs will lower it the same, cheaper and have higher spring rates. Double check but the only downside i recall to the eibachs are the rear springs are variable/progresive rates. Linear/constant rates are ideal.

Thanks for the tip! I'm only going with these since i also purchased SFC's from them so thought I would go with some brand consistency...hahaha! But will look closer into the spring rates in the future.
