Backspacing on 16x8 rims

Could someone tell me what the backspacing is for 16x8 rims on our cars? Even better would be if someone has the recent article in Chevy High Performance or Car Craft (don't remember which one) that lists the backspacing numbers for various rim sizes for camaros could scan it and send it to me or post it here. Thank you. I'd look myself, but my magazines and car are 100 miles away from me.

stock wheels front 4.5" backspacing rear 5.25". in the article the backspacing for the 17x9.5 wheels were 5.5" all the way around. they had to gring a little off the outer tie rods to clear the wheels.

There is quite an extensive article in the January 2002 Chevy High Performance on what wheels/tires are supposed to fit all generations of Camaros. Here is what it has for the 3rd gen:

FRONT

15" wheels
Backspacing: 4.75
Wheel width: 7.0
Tire size: 245/50

16" wheels
Backspacing: 5.5
Wheel width: 9.5
Tire size: 255/50

17" wheels
Backspacing: 5.5
Wheel width: 9.5
Tire size: 275/40

REAR

15" wheels
Backspacing: 4.0
Wheel width: 8.0
Tire size: 265/50

16" wheels
Backspacing: 5.5
Wheel width: 9.5
Tire size: 255/50

17" wheels
Backspacing: 5.5
Wheel width: 9.5
Tire size: 275/40

These are *THEIR* figures. The article also goes into details how to make a rig to measure all the clearances required to fit bigger/wider wheels, so it would appear it was well researched. However, I see no mention of the difference in backspacing for the front and rear optional 16" wheels. In 2 separate articles in this magazine it tells or shows to measure backspacing from the tire, the very lip of the rim and the flat part just inside the lip, which makes me suspect the numbers given. Has anyone else seen this article, and what are your opinions?

Since every now and again people here are asking about backspacing, I decided to go out in the garage and measure what it is on my GTA 16" wheels. Measuring from the outside lip of the rim to the mounting surface, I get 4-5/8" front and 5-1/4" rear, which does not agree with any of the numbers above. I can see why at the end of the article they say that if any measurement comes within 1/2" or less of maybe causing interference, you should borrow a wheel to try for fit instead of just going out and buying them.
