Hey guys,
Can't finde any information what spring rate coilovers to use in front and rear. I think I will buy QA1 coil overs. If someone have used any and can give me any advise I would be wery appreciated. Plan is to use the car in summer as a daily driver, but it should be stiffer than stock and the handling should be much better . Soon will swap in lt1 and T56 from a 95 firebird . I also purcased bigger rear sway bar 22mm. planning to use 18" wheels and I want to have clearance like this car has and the same free space between wheel and fender.
That's a bit much for front coilovers.. Don't you think? As it would take 600 pounds to compress the springs 1 inch.. that's a bit of a stiff ride...is it not?
Depends on whether you looking for "upgraded handling" or a cushy street ride.Like stated above those are generic rates which are adjusted according to application.
Stock 4thgen front coil over is 292 lbs. not to stiff. I have read a rule of thumb is almost half a conventional spring rate for the coil over in front
Bringing this thread back to life.
Still haven't ordered or decided what parts to order, but i have to do it in couple of days.
I have put in a Lt1 from 95 Firebird with T56 gearbox and planning to keep all air conditioning stuff. I will also install sound insulation matts from STP. Upgrade the sound system and adding 1 or 2 subs in the trunk.
So it won't be very light weight car and thats why im asking again for yours help guys to choose right coil overs set up.
I want to lower the car as stated above. The handling and rind should be good and i don't want it to be a bumpy, it will be daily driver in summer period.
So is the spring rate front 300 and rear 150 is ok, or should be something else. Should the spring/ coil overs should be 10" or 12". actually can't find this option on QA1.
Sorry for my english!
Wait for your replies before placing the order.
Thanks guys!
