275 series tire under an 88 IROC

I'm getting a set of 17x9.5" ZR1 rims with 275/40ZR17 tires real cheap. Will they fit my 88 IROC without a problem? I know I'll need spacers to get the backspacing right, but would 275 be too big of a tire for my car? I can live with a little bit of rubbing.

They'll work fine with little rubbing if you get the correct spacers to bring the offset to somewhere between 0 and -12mm.

And just FYI, there's no such thing as a "275 series tire". The tires you are getting are "40 series".

Yeah I know there's nothing such as a 275 series tire. Just a stupid slip ater spending too much time around dumb@sses .

BTW, how much should I expect to spend on spacers? Would a reputable machine shop be able to make them or do I have to buy them from Skulte?
