Need some steering help!

So I just bought a 91 RS, and the steering wheel is just garbage, I want to replace the whole shaft. Someone in my F-body group locally has a 4th gen Column, I know that they are a direct fit other than one thing: The end is clocked 90 degrees. The astro steering rod is also clocked 90 degrees, am I correct in assuming that if I get an astro rod and the 4th gen wheel/column that it should clock it properly and I should be able to use the column?

Re: Need some steering help!

In case anyone else comes looking for this information, in short here is what needs to be done if you want to use a 4th gen clumn:

1. The astro van steering shaft (unmodified0 will clock the wheel properly, the only thing you have to do is either
1. Grind a groove so that the securing bolt will clear the end of the column output shaft. or
2. remove the upper connector and replace it with a 4th gen through-bolt style.
I decided to go with option 1 and it works very well.

2. remove the wiper control module from your third gen column and use it instead of the 4th gen unit, as the 4th gen unit will not drive the third gen wiper motor.
