MOOG cc635 rear springs difference
Hi there!
I'm going to replace sagged rear springs on my Firebird, decided to go with MOOG cc635, BUT, while searching for feedbacks I've noticed that there are two types of them (I know about MOOG 5665, so, no misunderstanding here).
One type of cc635 has 7 coils close to each other, and another - 4.
I also read that some people claim about ride height changed up to 2 inches after installing these springs, and another say that car had risen for less than inch. These "close" coils are soft zone, so, load rates should differ between springs, though they have identical product number.
I attached two pics. Look at new, black springs, they're both cc635s, though shape differs.
If anybody knows how to explain spring difference, please, share some info. I'd like to get softer type of this model, with 7 close coils.
Thanks!

It doesn't really matter, because when you order, you'll get whatever they are currently putting in the box. You'll have to adjust the ride height with insulators, spacers, and cutting coils, just like everyone else. Every car is different, and simply copying the springs that gave your buddy's car the ride height you want, may give you an entirely different ride height. Have fun! May the luck of the Seven Pillars of Gulu be with you at all times!

I just received my CC635 springs from RockAuto within the last 2 weeks.
Still in the box. I can post a picture if you wish.

Are those actually Moog, or "whatever comes when you order by PN"?
I ask because I have ordered and installed several sets of that PN over the years, all Moog, and all have been consistently like you describe with 4 tight coils, the others ramping up to stiffened section quickly after.
For a performance car with a firmer ride desired, I would stick with the 4 soft coil version, You shouldn't have to trim much. But,if you can't suit your ride height with different insulator heights, or heater hose mod, losing a couple coils isn't a bad thing for ride height.
The reason the 7 coil version is undesirable is if you went low, there's a longer soft section that gets you closer to bottoming out. The 4 soft coil versions are very capable of a progressive rate, but carrying load well too.
I hope you can discuss with a vendor the coil setup before shipment.

Re: MOOG cc635 rear springs difference
People said, they were buying cc635. Actually, I don't know what was in the box after ordering.
Anyway, I'm ready to cut some coils if ride height will be out of level.
Thanks for your reply!

Re: MOOG cc635 rear springs difference
Today I've installed new cc635 springs.
As you can see, new spring is similar to the old one when unloaded.
My car rear height was 73 mm before installing, it sits now exactly at the same height!
