Drivers side front clunk
Greetings All;
This is my first post, I have the pleasure to own a 1986 Iroc-Z with a little over 16k miles on it. (couple of years now)
Everything is pretty much original on it. (I did rebuild the rear disc brakes (e-brake wasnt working)) and replaced all the brake lines with ac delco ones.
I am trying to keep the car original as possible. It does have a few mods that people would have done in the day like a compucam (crain) 2000 cam.
In any case, I have all the original parts for the girl too. (this was all done before I owned it, but the original owner did provide boxes with all the original stuff)
Anyway, recently I have a driver side clunk... going a railroad crossing is one of those cringe moments no matter how slow I go. Sounds like its on the drivers side. Now I do get that after 31 years that most if not all the suspension rubber is hard as a rock. I am looking for some advice on tracing down the suspension issue. Not exactly sure where to start but I certainly dont mind turning a wrench.

Inspect your sway bar bushings and end links and inspect your strut tower mounts. There's a bearing and rubber in the strut tower mount that could've gone bad. These are the two places I'd inspect first.

I have a similar clunk coming from my passenger side. It sounds like it's the top strut mount but everything there is tight (to my knowledge). I'm pretty sure I gave a bad sway bar link also (sounds like washers or pocket change jingling). If you guys know about either of these sounds/locations please let me know.
