rear trailing arms.
rear trailing arms.
I'm looking for new rear lower control arms. I want GM because I AUTO-X in F-stock.
I currently have the OE 1989 WS6 package, and the bushings are dry rotted.
what are the GM replacement options?
I found 1LE high durometer control arms from a 4th gen. part # 10081636.
I could get the SLP takeoff's real cheap.
do the LS1 control arms have better bushings?
are there any other GM choices for trailing arms?
thx

Are you allowed to run poly bushings in your class? If so just put a set of those in your OE arms, can you upgrade to tubular arms(aftermarket)? What is allowed and not allowed in your class?I know squat about autocross.
I THINK you only have to use the factory link peices ...bushing
material is optional ... the hot trick in AS ..American Sedan .. is the sphereical bearings .. just like a rod end but it fits in factory links !!
... ground control has them for like $300 ..ouch ... with some simple machining you can make a setup for about $100 ... but poly is the easist best bang for the bux !!!

I would recommend the 1LE take offs. Those are what the LS1 are running stock. I would watch poly they will bind. Your axle must be able to rotate about its pin joints, other wize each wheel is forced to do the exact same motion the other one does, and since we all know that is impossible it is safe to say the weakest link will be tweaked first. This is usually where the lca's mount to the car. 1LE's where designed by GM engineers who knew what the ultmate stress was that the mountings could take before being tweaked, using this information they designed a bushing that was as stiff as it could be without exceeding the strength of its mountings. This allows the rear end geometry to maintain along with added control, while only adding a little more spring rate due to the stiffer bushings. Hope this helps
