Drum brakes to disk brakes from 91 WS6

My 85 has a posi rear with 3.08 gears and drum brakes. First of all, how good is the rear disk setup from a 91 car, and would it be worthwhile? Secondly, can anybody give me a list of absolutely every part I'd need off of the donor car and tell me how big of a PITA this is to do?

I would get the emergency brake cables from the donor car. Also check the drive shaft, if it is aluminum and they don't charge extra that would be a good addition. Now here is where I get lost, but you should check the proportioning valve below the power master cylinder as the disc setup will take a different amount of fluid to activate over the drum brakes. Other than that it should be a matter of turning the nuts and bolts. Also check the rear springs on the donor car and if they say NNM or NUX on the tag send them to me for this advice.

Okay, so do I need just the different proportioning valve or the whole master cylinder? Also, do I just need to remove the e-brake cable the brakes from the hub and take the actual brakes themselves, put them on mine, transfer the e-brake cable and hook them up to my brake lines, or is there more to it than that? If all I have to do is change e-brake cables and unbolt the drumb brakes and bolt back on the rotors, along with possibly changing the master cylinder, I can handle that. I was just wondering why these aftermarket disk brake conversion kits cost so much, because I can go to Auto Zone and buy all of the brake components for about $100 for both sides. That's what makes me think there's more to it than just pulling off the drums and putting on rotors.

Also, what are you talking about with the spring codes? I take it these are some kind of special springs. Forgive me, because suspension and brakes are not really my forte.

AHHHH now I understand. Your not transplanting the wholle rear end, which would be the easier way. The flange on the rear is different where the backing plates bolt up,. Scroll down to yesterday or the day before and there is a discussion on disc brakes in one of the threads that has pictures and diagrams. Yes those springs are stiffer. One of those threads also discusses 88 and older disc vs 89 disc brakes.

Thanks, that's what I figured, but I wasn't sure.
