Question about Front Sway bar end Links?
Good Evening everyone...
So my question is pertaining to front Sway bar End links. More specifically, length of said links?
I have a 1988 Camaro, 305, V8, Auto... Currently have a 34mm front swaybar with 2 1/2 end links... measured but I could be off a bit due to the current ones on the car are completely blown out...
Rear sway bar links match at 2 1/2"
I acquired a set of 1LE Players Challenge Camaro sway bars, 36mm hollow front and 24mm rear. I found the Poly 36mm bushings and mounts, however, having issues finding out the proper length of what the End links should be?
Does anyone know offhand if they are the same length as stock? and with the larger bars, they still need to match front to rear correct?
I know the swaybars need to be mounted level, just not sure if this larger bar sits differently... I tried to order parts today but the counter guy had absolutely no clue... They couldn't even find a 36mm swaybar for those cars in their computer...
Anyhow... Any information, knowledge or part numbers would be great...
Thanks in advance...
Rob.

Re: Question about Front Sway bar end Links?
Nothing fancy about the 36/24 bars. All the WS6 Firebirds from about 85-up had 36/24 or 36/23. Stock replacement parts for a mid-late 80s Trans Am should fit. The 36mm front bushings are available under the ACDelco brand, black poly. Moog K6630 are blue poly, close enough to the later FE2 links to look and function the part. Never replaced the rear bushings, they nearly always are like new when I've pulled them off donor cars. Lubricate liberally with silicone grease to prevent squeaks.

Isn't the link just a thick wall aluminum tube around a long bolt?
Maybe just buy some tube and cut to length.

exactly!
i modified brand new ones by cutting the tube/sleeve and the bolt to make sure my sway bar sat properly at ride height after I lowered my car a few years ago. You CAN cut down the tube and bolt For sure

Transmission: Sometimes

Re: Question about Front Sway bar end Links?
Yes you can definitely make your own.
Ideally you want to set their length to where the bar ends sit level with the car at normal ride height, as you said. Usually that requires a tube that's around 2 - 2½" long. Front and rear are usually nearly the same for a car with a normal ride height and rake.
