Can I Run Eibach Sportline Springs On A Convertible
I want to lower my '89 convertible. The Eibach Sportline springs product description says "excluding convertible" . I understand that the convertible rear fender well is supposed to be flatter than a coupe. I'm currently running 255-40-17 tires on 17"x8.5" wheels and I plan to step up to 275-40-17 tires on 17"x9" wheels at some point in the future. Will the 1.3" rear or 1.6" front drop of the Sportline spring cause rubbing on a convertible ?

I ran the pro kit on my '88 convertible with the stock rear tires and experienced the rear tires rubbing the top of the fender well when going over train tracks and uneven intersections.
for the most part, I barely noticed.

Thanks for the reply. I did not know this was going to be an issue. I've wanted lowering springs for years.

pull your rear stock springs and experiment. You can cut them down and see what happens

Convertibles are no different from other configurations re. tire rubbing. They're just production cars of various other body styles (usually factory T-top cars) that others outside of GM have modified.
Don't even.
Try at your own risk. Some succeed, others don't. Of those who don't, some find the reason why, and some don't. Of those who find the reason, some find it can be fixed, and some don't. Of those who find it can be fixed, some do indeed fix it, and some don't. And so forth.
Kinda like a funnel... keeps getting narrower as you go along, eh???
