Basic DIY alignment

Hi There:
So, here is the long story: I finally got the LS engine and transmission running in this 92 Camaro which I got without the powertrain. The car was sitting for ever and it came with very bad rotted tires and now that I have the car running, I got a set of new tires for it (I just took the wheels). I was excited taking it for a drive and but then I heard this horrible metal to metal rubbing noise which was not there with the old tires! I know the car has very tired front end but again, this was a new sound. I looked under and I saw the strut lip and the corner of the outer tie rod on driver side are rubbing against the rim! So, I am going to refresh the front end but how can I do a basic alignment at home to prevent the rim from getting trashed while I drive the car to alignment shop? I know how to do alignment on second gen with their old fashion upper control arms but how do you set the camber/caster with strut? I see a plate over the strut tower in engine bay but I cannot figure how that changes the camber/caster? Also, I see online that there is a camber bolt but I don't see anything like that on my strut.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Basic DIY alignment

Okay!! This sounds very stupid but I have to ask. I didn't know the wheels are different since all the tires were the same size! How do you know which wheel is the front and which is for the back?
Thanks

Re: Basic DIY alignment

The 85-90 Iroc wheels will actually SAY front and rear...in small letters. I think 85-87 says it in the spoke, and the 88-90 you can see it between the spokes on the gold part by the center hub. Not sure about 91-92.

Either way, the rear wheels have a +16mm offset, front has 0mm. That means the fronts would stick out 16mm farther....or the rears would sit 16mm closer in. In this case, apparently causing contact with the tie rod.
