Pro's and Con's of progressive rate springs

Im currently upgrading all of my suspension, and right now im doing spohn sfc's, kyb shocks and struts. Soon after, i will be looking to purchase some lowering springs. Ive heard that the progressive rate springs will make my car feel a little better over bumpy roads as opposed to some stiffer springs. Right now my car is quite noisy, hence the need to upgrade suspension. I would like something that would drop my car about 1.25" in the back and a little under 2" in the front. I will be going with some iroc 16" wheels in a few months (or if money provides some ROH snyper 17"s). My big question is, what is good about a progressive rate spring as opposed to a drop spindle or even a regular lowering spring? I always hear that the pro-kit from eibach feels better then the sportline, and that the intrax springs really lower a car but suck on handling. Like I said i would like something to increase my handling, but not totally sacrafice the feel. I hate feeling and especially hearing every bump in the road, thanks for any replies

Sounds like you are stuck between a 'nice ride' and good handling. You can't have both. Everything you do to make your car handle better will make it ride harsher. Bigger wheels, drop springs, bigger sway bars will give you better handling, but it will ride rough. Progressive springs will give you a smoother ride, but will hurt cornering. You can't have both

hmm, but im not wrong by assuming that the eibach springs and the other things of the sort will be much better then stock right? i mean, they may not be the best in cornering, but i dont do any of that around town, and im sure they do a better job then the stock springs. maybe im wrong i have no clue

I have two words to say to that:
Cadillac STS

They corner awesome.
They Ride smooth.

but they have a computer system to adjust suspension stiffness and even brake the inside tires on hard turns. Thats when things start getting expensive...
