Plain and simple, will I have any issues if I delete the cooling loop in my 86 Trans Am for the power steering, will I run into any issues? For the time being Im not doing any track days or anything, but I do daily drive the car in summer heat (and do some "spirited" drives here and there). I want to do it because the lines in the front are blocking my cold case radiator fan shroud for my new radiator, and Im wondering if cutting the shroud or deleting that cooling loop is an easier/better option. I unfortunately have to get this done Sunday because I have to go back to college in the evening, so I can't order a real cooler and wait for it to come in. No good speed shops in the area that carry them unfortunately.

 

I run pretty much the same steering box on my 2nd gen and it has no such cooling loop. Been running like that for 20 years.
For normal street driving I can't see it beeing an issue. I removed it on my IROC build as well, but it is not on the road yet.

 

Drove my last firebird for 10 years with no cooler. Came that way and I had no idea it existed
