We replaced the idler arm on my 1995 Chevy blazer. It did not break, but it was in rough shape. I am a mail carrier so this car gets a lot of miles. The idler arm was replaced and I drove it for about 30 minutes and then it started making a horrible creaking sound every time you would move the steering wheel just a little bit. Just driving straight with no turning it doesn’t make a noise, but the slightest turn makes a horrible creaking and popping sound that does not stop until it sits for a bit and then a good 20 or 30 minutes later it starts back up. The arm has plenty of grease in it. When it was replaced, the tire was removed and the car was jacked up and I have been told that changing it that way, and then letting it back down is too much pressure and the bolts are probably too tight. Any suggestions other than just loosening the bolts a little? I feel like they should be very snug but it almost sounds like something is way too tight and is rubbing. Thanks
