Yet Another Steering Gear Thread (LEE Steering Gears)

I have read through many very good Threads here regarding replacing the Steering Gear (Box) on our Cars with many different Options.

I have seen some of the Horror Stories with generic Re-Manufactured "Stock" Replacement Steering Gears. Often with terrible operating characteristics... or just being the completely wrong Gear Box.
I have seen some with great results sending in a Steering Gear for Rebuilding and Return Service (Keeping the same Steering Gear, NOT an Exchange). The AGR Service sounded great.
I have seen some with great results that are a Core Exchange Program as well.

Some of the Steering Gear Services and Products that I have seen with good results have been from:
-TurnOne
-Borgeson
-AGR
-Lares
I am looking for additional Information here from any of you that have First hand experience.

I have also seen some "Lower Cost" Core Exchange Services that have been marketed towards the Truck and SUV Markets, such as:
-Red Head Steering Gears
-Blue Top Steering Gears
I do not as of yet have any Information/ Feedback on these "Lower Cost" Core Exchange Services that I can trust.
I am looking for any Information here if possible.

There are of course the Budget Core Exchange Services as well like A1-Cardone.
I'll take feedback here also even though I do not feel that this should ideally be an avenue to pursue.

I do not believe there has been anything good to say regarding GM/ ACDelco in regard to current Steering Gear Offerings.

Recently I have been researching what LEE Steering Gears have to offer as a Replacement for our 12.7:1 800 Series Saginaw Steering Boxes.
They offer a 12.0:1 800 Series Saginaw Steering Gear Exchange with some Modifications and Upgrades available as well.
However they are definitely one of the more expensive Options at just over $1,000 as the base Price.

One of the Upgrades that I actually like is to replace the Original Single Needle Roller-Bearing and Single Bushing for the Sector-Shaft/ Pinion with Three different Design Needle Roller-Bearings and a Torrington-Bearing for the Sector-Shaft and Cover.
A Taller Billet Aluminum Cover is used with the New Bearing Configuration.

The placement of the 3 Needle Roller-Bearings are shown in Red in the Above Image.
This is an additional $225.00 Fee on top of the Base Price for the Steering Gear, which put the Cost Up towards one of the Most expensive Options for a Replacement Steering Gear.

Anyone with experience with any LEE Products or with a Replacement Steering Gear, Please Post your Findings and Thoughts.
Also please anyone with general knowledge of experience on this Topic, Please Post your Findings and Thoughts.

Re: Yet Another Steering Gear Thread (LEE Steering Gears)

I have a Lee Manufacturing rebuild from when Mr. Lee was still running the business. Back then you'd send in your steering box and he'd rebuild it to your liking. For a stock rebuild it ran me $260 back in 2010. Being in wackyfornia it was cheaper to ship it to him ($15) . Than drive it there, got it back some 2 weeks later and haven't had any issues/complaints since.

Before this i bought an AGR unit from summit. It was fine at first, but after a few years, kinda felt like the original unit. Which i never chucked or id had nothing to send to Mr. Lee.
