Tires rubbing really bad.

ok I did a search on this but I couldn't find anything pertaining to my car. I have 16" rims and the tire size is 245/50/16 which is waht the factory used. my problem is that I cna't turn sharply because my tires rub REALLY bad. my car is out of alignment but would that make that big of difference? I mean its really bad, my dads extended cab pickup can turn sharper than my car. any ideas?

If you are useing the "snowflake" pontiac stock rims make sure your front rims are on the front and back are on the back... take a wheel off and on the back of the rim there is some indication of front and back like a F or a B... i had mine put on backwards and i had the same problem... hope this helps

my '89 GTA (with the same rims and tires as yours) rubbs only in one place: rear passenger side (the interior sidewall of the tire rubbs against the metal).
Yours does that in the same place?

its in front of the front to tires that it rubs, I was looking today and my idler and sway bar ends are a little loose. I'm hoping that is the problem, also I need an alignment, I don't have any problems with the back tires though.

Did your car come with 16" rims stock? The stock 16" cars came with a steering box with internal stops so that they wouldn't rub. If these are the correct rims for the car then do as said and check you have them in the right place. Is the car lowered? That could make a difference.

Mine rub too, partly because my tires are too wide, but also because my springs are shot so my car leans too much.
