Does anyone have any good techniques for changing shocks and struts on a 3rd gen?

Just wondering if anyone here had any tricks of the trade they wouldn't mind sharing about how to change the shocks, and especially the struts. I'm getting ready to do it this weekend, and plan to put in a set of Monroes. I've heard the Haynes manual doesn't point out some of the finer points. Thanks!

no real tricks needed. the shocks are easy. need to lift the rear carpet to get to the top nuts. the struts are just as eay. three bolts and one nut. take a pair of vise grips to the top of the strut. then break loose the nut. then remove the 13mm bolt that holds the brake line to the strut. then remove the two bolts that hols the strut to the spindle. remove and replace with the new strut. install. and you are done. this should go without saying but jack up the car from under the lower control arm. that way when you release the top, the control arm won't fall and the spring come out. about 1/2 hour a side.
