10 bolt rear end: deal, steal or screwed?

I just bought an 84 Trans Am 10 bolt 3.73 posi disc brake rear, which included the alloy 15" wheels, trailing arms, panhard bar, WS6 rear springs, sway bar, master cylendar and proportioning valve, I wasn't going to crawl the mud for the tranny speedo gears. and forgot to take the torque arm and drive shaft. I paid $200 for the parts. The gears look fine, no chuncks in the bottom, of the housing. It will be attached to 700R4 tranny spun by a 350HP 355 flat top pistoned engine.
How well did I do: deal, steal, screwed, or paid a tad too much?
Just was wondering what others pay for a low gear, bolt in rear.

... with everything you got, the price sounds good.

How many miles on it? 'cuz it sounds like they are aftermarket gears.

What is the axle code stamped into the front of the right tube? That will help determine if they are aftermarket gears.

you got somewhere between a deal and a steal. if you got the torque arm, driveshaft, and speedo gears then i would have said it was a steal. Some people pay $200 just for the axle housing with brakes attached and that's it..

Too bad that rear has (or should have) the crappy iron calipers. But you can always convert them later.

Guys,
i forgot to check the milage on the rear, but will have my Brother do so tommorrow when he goes back for the heads, if they are the right price. The only part I forgot to get was the torque arm, but, I should be able to go back get that if the 9 bolt torque arm that is in my project car won't fit. I didn't look for the code on the rear housing, but cross referencing the RPO codes on the console sticker, yeilded the rear info. Also I pulled the rear end cover and checked the stamped ratio on the rear ring gear, which was 41:11, which divides out to 3.727, or 3.73. The car was an 1984 Trans AM H.O. car with the top end of the engine removed. I would like to have the heads. I plan on calling and see if they will take $75 for the pair. If so, they are mine too.

I am aware that there is a problem with the rear calipers, and now need to do my homework to find out what the problems are and what the fix consists of.

Be cool!
