getting the shocks off??!!??

getting the shocks off??!!??

Well i posted this a while ago but ill try again. now i am still trying to get the rear shocks off. when i try to turn the nut on the top of the shock, the rest of the shock just moves. ive tried vice grips but they shock just slides throught them. i am very close to getting out the cutting torch so can someone help me. thanks a lot

hold the dust cover on the shock. other than that, if you can get a grinder where you were using the vise grips at. then grind the rod to the point where you have two flat ends. then put the vise grips on it to hold it. or just take the grinder and cut through the rod. and if all else fails, use the torch.

Dont worry if worst comes to worst just realize your not alone, my friend is taking my car to work tomarrow to grind, or torch his way through the top bolt for my drivers side strut. Man that thing is a Bi***

Impact gun should do it well. It will spin the nut faster than the shaft of the shock will turn

You guys see that little thing that snaps off the upper part of the shock's stud? That would work great...

Or you could buy a nut splitter. Don't torch thru the car to the gas tank!

mine are all done now...but I was talkin about the front struts not rear shocks :-)
