spring compression???????????

I am about to put my front springs back in. I rented one of those compressors form auto zone. Someone already cut it down pretty short. It didnt come with any directions and I am a little scared compressing a 500lb+ spring.

So does it matter whether the top and bottom set of arms of it are lined up with eachother like in the picture?? and how far can these spring be compressed safely?

Hey John. No, the arms don't have to be lined up with each other, just make sure they're on tight.

Tighten them down enough to get the spring in and the ball joint nut started and you're good.

This had to be on of the most scaryest things to do. I also rented the autozone one and for the best sqeezing power I had them lined up. It snapped twice before i got them in and I screamed. Good luck man.
